18th Century French Carved Oak Painted Wall Sculpture with Centre Shell Motif
Place this important carving over a mantel; half circle in shape, and hand-carved in Normandy, France, circa 1780, the Louis XV wall hanging sculpture features a large shell motif at the pediment flanked with scroll foliage decor on both sides and embellished by a centre oval medallion crowned with leaf motif. The thick panel is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use with an old patinated white paint finish over a light fruitwood patina. Heavy hook in the back for easy hanging. Measures: 34.5″ W x 24″ H.
