19th Century French Empire Walnut Commode Chest of Drawers with Black Marble Top
This elegant fruitwood chest of drawers was crafted in France, circa 1860. The traditional antique commode features three drawers across the front with original bronze pulls and decorative key holes escutcheons, and a fourth additional drawer under the original black marble top. The cabinet is embellished on both sides by carved round columns with decorative bronze rings at the neck and base, and has square feet at the bottom. Overall, this chest is in excellent condition and has a rich walnut patina throughout. The Empire style piece would make a wonderful powder room vanity with the addition of a sink, or could simply be used in an entry or in a bedroom for extra storage.
