19th Century French Pine Iron and Leather Blacksmith Bellows Coffee Table
Decorate a ranch den or a country living room with this large antique blacksmith’s bellows, which has been retrofitted as a coffee table. Crafted in France circa 1850, the piece sits on three legs and features its original accordion leather with brass studs, and the cone shaped iron devise blowing air at one extremity. The coffee table is in excellent condition and has a rich walnut patina and original side handles for easier handling. This is a useful piece, but also a true conversation starter!
A bellows is a device constructed to furnish a strong blast of air forcing a stream when the cavity is compressed. It had many applications for blacksmiths shops, in particular blowing on a fire to supply it with air, and made it easier to bend the metal.
