Hand carved circa 1780, this important antique statue of the Virgin Mary and her Son was found in a chapel in Southern France. The large alluring polychrome and gilt sculpture in high relief, features Madonna carrying our Lord Jesus Christ with His left arm in movement. Both mother and child gaze downward with arms outstretched in divine compassion. The tall religious figure has wonderful carving details throughout the gilt dress, brown hair and calm facial expressions. The religious statue is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use with the original patinated gilt and polychrome finish. Measures: 19″ W x 13″ D x 39.5″ H.
