Embellish a mantel with this important antique wood carving crest. Crafted in France, circa 1780, the elegant wall-mounted plaque features carved swag motifs throughout and is further embellished with a thick carved gilt crown at the pediment. The center features a round hand painted medallion on canvas depicting the Virgin Mary holding her Son, our savior, Jesus Christ. The large sculpture is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with wonderful carving and painting details; the religious shield adorns the original patinated gilt and painted finish. Mount this masterpiece on a wall in a living room, a study, or as an over door ornament in an office. Measures: 36″ W x 4.5″ D x 31″ H.
