18th Century French Carved Oak Painted and Gilt Wall Sculpture with Shell Motif
Place this important antique wood carving over a mantel; hand-carved in Normandy, France, circa 1780, the large Louis XV wall hanging sculpture features a large shell motif at the bottom flanked by scroll foliage and floral and leaf motifs on both sides. The thick panel is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use with an old patinated white paint finish and gilt accents over a light fruit wood patina. Heavy hook in the back for easy hanging.
