18th Century French Gothic Giltwood and Polychromed Trunk with Fleurs de Lys
This elegant antique chest was crafted in southern France circa 1780, bombe in shape, the trunk features carved Fleurs de Lys motifs throughout with a patinated gilt finish. The important decorative box is further embellished with a hand painted medallion on the front depicting a Renaissance outdoor scene with riders on their horses followed by dogs. The colorful chest is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use with a rich patinated gilt finish. Lock mechanism in working order, key included. Measures: 30.25” W x 15.75” D x 17.25” H.
