About
This large, antique two-door cabinet was crafted in Southern France, circa 1750. The armoire features two small doors with a center drawer in between, and is embellished with diamond shape geometric designs. The cabinet has a heavy, beveled crown on top, and flaunts a beautiful and rich patina with original hardware. This piece could be used in a living room, study, bedroom or library. Definition of “Homme-Debout” (standing man): in the old days, the middle drawer was a fake one; one soldier could hide in these kind of cabinets to avoid been captured or shot by the enemies during the French Revolution! Measures: 57″ W x 29″ D x 83″ H. SKU: 52-242
