18th Century, French Louis XV Carved Walnut Two-Door Buffet from Provence
This elegant, antique fruitwood buffet was carved in Southern France, circa 1780. The Classic sideboard exemplifies the Louis XV style with a heavy presence, dramatic lines and intricate moldings and foliage carvings throughout. The beautiful cabinet sits on escargot feet over a scalloped apron decorated with the traditional Provençal urn, and flanked by foliage and acorn decor on both sides; the buffet features a pair of doors with raised panels under a single large drawer across the front decorated with iron pulls and center escutcheon. Furthermore, the cabinet has inside shelving for additional storage space. The scalloped top is the perfect place to display porcelain objects, frames, and more. The buffet is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and has a well-maintained rich walnut patina and embellished with heavy hardware and long decorative hinges.
