Embellish a mantel or study with this important antique wood carving crest. Crafted in Italy, circa 1760, the elegant wall-mounted plaque features carved scrolls throughout including in the center two polychromed cherubs with wings looking at each other, and enclosed by acanthus leaf and fruit decor around; it is further embellished with a thick shell at the pediment. The large ornament is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with wonderful details; the religious shield adorns the original patinated gilt and painted finish. Mount this masterpiece on a wall in a living room, or as an over door elegant ornament in an office. Measures: 23″ W x 6″ D x 23″ H.
