About
This antique “billot de boucher”, or butcher block was crafted in Belgium, circa 1890. The large piece stands on five fluted and spindled-shaped legs over a carved three-side scalloped and bombe apron. The tabletop, made of mixed woods including maple and beech wood, features a carving station surface shaped from generations of use, embellished with bronze corner brackets, and two decorative brass medallions across the front. The station sits over two serpentine drawers dressed with bronze handles. The original carved back decorated with a top shell cartouche and scrolled motifs, is mounted behind a brass knife storage slot; it has the original bronze plaque of Brussels provenance. The butcher table is in very good condition commensurate with age and use and adorns a rich light walnut patina. Place this charming work table in your kitchen or breakfast room for the ultimate Country French look; a true one of a kind! Old meat cleaver butcher knife with original double handles included.
