19th Century Belgium Painted Ceramic Barbotine Owl Pitcher from Nimy-Les-Mons
Porcelain collectors will love this whimsical antique owl pitcher. Crafted in Nimy-les-Mons, circa 1890, the large ceramic vase from Belgium is an excellent example of the painterly artistry of Barbotine porcelain pieces. The fun, unique pitcher is in excellent condition and has a stamp of authentication at the bottom. The ceramic animal figure is featured in the book “Pichets en Barbotine” by Maryse Bottero page 122. (see last pictures). The pitcher has rich, high-pigment colors including a dark brown body, a teal green handle and a bright red interior wash. Throughout the body, you can see a great amount of detail and texture.
