This beautiful antique black leather bound book with gilt accents was presented to Henry Bishop by his affectionate sister Eliza on June 23rd 1857. The Classic religious book, written by the Rev. John Fleetwood (with a Prefatory notice by the Rev. Henry Stebbing), is about the life of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, together with the lives of His holy apostles, evangelists, and other Primitive martyrs, and a dissertation on the evidences of Christianity. To which was added a meditation on the love of Christ, and the Christian laid forth by Joseph Hall, in addition with the golden grove, and the worthy communicant by Jeremy Taylor. The important manuscript was printed in London by George Virtue, circa 1857. The traditional book with numerous illustrative black and white engravings, is in excellent condition, complete and has a rich patinated finish.
