19th Century French Black Silver and Gilt Wrought Iron Book Binding Press
This beautiful paper binding press was forged in France, circa 1860. The Classic “presse a relier” made of solid iron is rectangular in shape and the top is connected to a screw controlled by a large manual wheel handle. This heavy tool is in wonderful working order and adorns a rich patinated black finish with gilt and silver accents. Decorate a shelf with this wonderful accessory in a study or library! In the old days, this kind of device was used to press together the book’s sheets together before receiving a bookbinding.
