Bring the French countryside into your home with this large patinated bronze bell from the Alps region of France; crafted in France circa 1890, the antique bell features several motifs in relief including people, dog and sheep decor. The piece has the original brown leather strap with buckle. These kind of bells had various distinctive sounds and were used to locate cattle in the pasture. Cows or sheep would wear them around their neck so owners or shepherds could easily recognize their herd no matter the distance. The bell is in excellent condition with rich patinated bronze finish. The actual bell not including the strap is 7.75″ diameter by 7″ height.
