19th Century French Bronze Doré Jewelry Box with Pastoral Scene
This antique gilt bronze casket was created in France, circa 1880. Oval in shape, the jewelry box stands on four small round feet, and is embellished with shell and acanthus leaf motifs. The hinged top surface is decorated with a Classic French pastoral scene depicting an outdoor party with couple in traditional 18th century clothing enjoying music. The detail work is outstanding including dogs, horses, castle, garden statues, trees. The inside box reveals the original luxurious pink velvet upholstery. The jewelry box is in excellent condition with a rich patinated bronze finish throughout, and would make a beautiful, useful addition to a desk or vanity table. Measures: 9″ W x 4″ D x 3″ H.
