19th Century French Burl Walnut Marquetry and Bronze Mounts Bombe Jardinière
This elegant oval planter was crafted in Paris, France circa 1870. The antique burl and walnut jardinière features a serpentine front and bombe sides dressed with intricate handles; the planter is decorated with marquetry motifs including a very detailed inlay band on both sides. The top of the cache pot is dressed with a decorative pierced gallery around the edges, and embellished with a bronze trim around the base. All four corners are embellished with ornate decorative bronze mounts ending with scrolled acanthus leaf motifs feet at the bottom. The luxurious Napoleon III planter is in good condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich patinated finish with wonderful details. A couple of cracks on the bottom see detailed images.
