19th Century French Carved Butcher Block with Meat Cleaver Chopper Knives
Place this antique “billot de boucher”, or butcher block in your kitchen or breakfast room; crafted in France circa 1880, this charming piece with elaborate carved back, sits on six fluted legs embellished with decorative diamond shaped medallions. The work table is made of mixed woods including maple, and features a double carving station surface with each side shaped from generations of use, angle metal brackets at each corner, and two large drawers under a shaped apron with original brass pulls. The upper back of later addition with a double curved design and hand carved center shell motifs, features a long iron mounted knife storage slat decorated with five antique meat cleaver and chopper butcher knives with wood handles. The butcher table is in very good condition commensurate with age and use and has a rich light walnut patina. A true one of a kind! Measures: 79″ W x 25″ D x 56″ H.
