19th Century French Carved Chestnut Pedestal Table with Breton Man Figure
Place a vase, a bust or a planter on this elegant antique pedestal. Crafted in Brittany, France circa 1870, the tall “Sellette” stands on a wide and square base ending with small feet. The stem depicts a carved Breton man sculpture in traditional clothing and smoking a pipe. The surface is dressed with a large square top with floral motifs, and decorated with finials around the edges. The large pedestal is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich walnut patina with exquisite carving including facial and clothes details. Measures: 16.5″ W x 16.5″ D x 45.25″ H.
