19th Century French Faience Barbotine Vase with Birds on Branches by Massier
This elegant and colorful antique majolica vase was crafted in France, circa 1880. A Classic example of French barbotine artistry probably from Massier, the sculptural porcelain piece features decor of birds resting on tree branches in high relief, and embellished with green leaves and a painted tree house in the background. The tall vase is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns rich, realistic hand painted colors in the green, brown and yellow palette, on a pale grey and white background. No marking on the bottom, but typical work of the Massier brothers. Measures: 9.5″ W x 6.5″ D x 14″ H.
