About
This antique ceramic planter was crafted in Brittany, France, circa 1870. Oval in shape, the colorful jardinière has two elegant side handles and features hand painted decoration throughout. The painted elements include a traditional Breton couple dressed in authentic costume and the shield of Quimper on the other side. The flower pot is also embellished with floral decor on both sides, and is signed on the bottom Henriot Quimper for further authentication. The porcelain, faience jardinière is in excellent condition with rich colors in a soft, pale blue and yellow palette.
Founded in Quimper in 1690, the HB-Henriot Manufacture has always innovated and worked with artists since this date.
Nowadays, HB-Henriot is well-known all over the world for its know-how. The brand is known for the “Quimper paint touch,” the tradition of producing and hand-painting every piece in-house, and the creation of its own porcelain molds.
