19th Century French Hand Painted Tole Grape Basket from Margaux
Decorate a wine cellar with this antique, metal grape harvest basket. Created in Bordeaux, France circa 1870, the unique basket has its original leather straps and is hand painted with colorful lion decor, including “Chateau Malescot St Exupery”, a well-known red Bordeaux vineyard in the Margaux region. The Classic tole basket is in excellent condition and flaunts a beautiful, rich brown patina with yellow and orange accents. This piece would make a beautiful statement in a wine cellar, or simply hanging in a kitchen filled with dry flowers. Hook on the back for easy installation.
Château Malescot St. Exupéry is a winery in the Margaux appellation of the Bordeaux region of France. The wine produced here was classified as one of fourteen Troisièmes Crus (Third Growths) in the historic Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. The vineyards are planted with 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, at a density of 10,000 vines/hectare, with an average age of about 35 years. A second wine is also produced, La Dame de Malescot.
