19th Century French Henri II Carved Oak Eleven-Gun Cabinet with Hunt Motifs
Display your rifle or shotgun collection in this beautifully carved, antique gun cabinet. Created in France, circa 1880, the two-piece buffet with barley twist side columns, sits on bun feet over a recessed plinth at the base. The removable top pediment features a carved wild boar head sculpture in the center flanked with dogs and eagle heads on both sides, and embellished with decorative finials at the corners. The upper section decorated with carved foliage and crest motif, features a pair of arched doors embellished with carved leaf decor around the original wavy clear glass panels; when opened, the inside displays up to 11 guns in the upright position with slots for each stock and barrel. The bottom section has two drawers decorated with carved branch handles and lock mechanism for bullet or shell boxes. Each door panel is decorated with hand carved bird sculptures, embellished with foliage and reed motifs. The inside reveals a middle shelf for additional storage. The tall buffet is in excellent condition with a rich light oak finish, and exquisite hunt carvings. Guns not included. Three keys included. Measures: 57″ W x 23.5″ D x 105″ H.
