About
Place this elegant antique Arma Christi prayer chair in your bedroom for daily devotions. Crafted in France, circa 1860, the traditional kneeler sits on scrolled feet over a simple bombe apron. The chair with a wide and cushioned seat features a tall back decorated with hand carved scrolled motifs and acanthus leaves and embellished in the center with a cross, ladder, spear and sponge symbols as a reminder of Christ suffering and dying for us. The religious “Prie-Dieu” (French for Praying God) is upholstered with a red velvet fabric, and embellished by decorative nailheads. The large prayer bench is in excellent condition with a rich walnut patina. Some wear on the upholstery. Measures: 18.5″ W x 18.5″ D x 37″ H.
