19th Century French Louis XIII Carved Walnut Pedestal Column from Normandy
This elegant antique pedestal was crafted in northern France, circa 1870. Built of solid walnut, the tall column stands on a square double plinth base over a circular tapered and fluted stem decorated with carved acanthus leaf, foliage and fruit motifs. The square top embellished with surface could accommodate a bust, a large vase, or any decorative porcelain “Piece de Forme”. The heavy pedestal table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use with a rich walnut patina. Measures: 14” W x 14” D x 48” H.
