About
This elegant fruit wood bench was crafted in southern France, circa 1880. The antique chair stands on cabriole legs decorated with acanthus leaf motifs at the shoulder, and ending with claw feet. The scalloped apron is embellished with carved floral and leaf decor, over curved and scrolled armrests decorated with acanthus leaf motifs. The loose seat cushion is upholstered with a fine floral silk fabric in a pale green and beige palette, and dressed with matching tassels and trim. The bench is in excellent condition with a rich walnut patina and gilt accents throughout; versatile, it would make a charming vanity chair in a master bathroom, used as a piano bench, or simply as extra seating in a den or living room. Measures: 20″W x 17″D x 24″H.
