19th Century French Louis XV Carved Walnut Corner Cabinet from Provence
$4,800
About
This nicely carved antique “encoignure” (or corner cupboard) was crafted in Southern France, circa 1880. This type of piece is also called a “mangadou” (or garde-manger), which is a provenMal term referring to an open space with spindles used to store food. The detailed cabinet has a bow front with double doors on the top and bottom, both of which are embellished with decorative hardware. The unique piece would make a great place to store towels and soap in a bathroom corner, or could be used as a display cupboard in a breakfast room. Overall, the piece is in excellent condition with a rich fruitwood patina. Measures: 41″ W x 29″ D x 84″ H. SKU: 161-84
