19th Century French Louis XV Rosewood Commode Chest Nightstand with Marble Top
This elegant, kidney-shaped fruitwood commode is a versatile side cabinet for any room. Crafted in Paris, France, circa 1870, this versatile, detailed piece could be used as a bedside table, a side table beside an armchair, or as a small storage chest in a powder room. The petite chest is oval in shape and traditional; it sits on cabriole legs with mounts over the feet, and features a top brass pierced gallery with inset rouge marble surface, two drawers with burl panels across the front and original pulls. The cabinet is further embellished with decorative bronze mounts, including escutcheons with wreath and ribbon motifs on the facade. The nightstand is in excellent condition with rich walnut patina, delicate marquetry embellishments, and parquetry decor with a veneer surface.
