19th Century French Louis XVI Carved and Painted Eight-Leg Chaise with Muslin
Add elegance to your home with this large, antique chaise from Paris. Crafted in France circa 1860, the lounge chair is nicely carved throughout the frame. The extended seat sits on eight tapered and fluted legs, each of which is decorated with floral medallions around the apron also embellished with hand carved flowers and leaves. Each arm rest has acanthus leaves, and the tall, arched back with ear shaped sides, features hand carved floral and leaf decor at the pediment. The long chaise has been reupholstered with a classic, white muslin fabric with a matching back pillow. The chaise is in excellent condition with its original, sophisticated patinated pale green paint finish. Place this “chaise longue” in a living room, master bedroom or ladies study for a dramatic 19th century, baroque look.
