About
Invite Classic French elegance into your home with this elegant antique bombe cabinet. Crafted in Paris, circa 1890 and built of walnut wood with marquetry and parquetry accents, the bombe chest stands on tapered legs ending in bronze sabots, over a straight apron. Shaped as a half moon, the cabinet features two curved stationary sides decorated with figural marquetry scene medallions of women in fashion clothes; the sides are further embellished with bronze mounts at the shoulders. The center door with parquetry inlaid motifs has a central oval medallion with a gentleman playing the mandolin. When opened, it reveals an interior middle shelf for ultimate storage. The surface is dressed with the original shaped variegated marble top in the red and beige palette. The demi-lune buffet is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and adorns a rich walnut patinated French polish. Versatile, the cabinet could be used as a console in an entry, a server in a dining room, a bedside table in a bedroom, or as a vanity chest in a powder room. Key included. Measures: 26.5″ W x 16.25″ D x 35″ H.
