19th Century French Napoleon III Carved Oak Jelly Cabinet Confiturier
This elegant antique “confiturier” (or jelly cabinet), was crafted in France, circa 1860. The jelly cabinet is carved on all three sides. It features a heavily carved central door embellished with high relief floral and foliage motifs, and revealing inside shelving for additional storage. The center door is flanked by two barley twist columns on the side, over a large drawer with carved geometric decor and embellished with brass hardware in the face of a lion’s face. The cabinet sits on bun feet over a carved decorative recessed plinth. The cabinet is in excellent condition with a rich walnut patina. The cabinet could also be used as a vanity in a small powder room.
