19th Century French Napoleon III Mahogany and Bronze Inlaid Liquor Box
Create an elegant bar area with this complete antique “Cave à Liqueur”! Created in France, circa 1870, the mahogany Tantalus stands on small round feet and features a removable brass caddy fitted with a complete set of 16 cut glass cordials and four matching carafes with cut glass stoppers; each glass and decanter is embellished with gilt decor. The portable bar with lift top door and side doors, has sophisticated bronze inlay motifs, including a coat of arms on the serpentine front, and a decorative center medallion with initials on the top surface. The Napoleon III entertaining essential is in excellent condition with a rich French polished finish, delicate patinated bronze inlaid embellishments throughout, and gold leaf on every glass and bottle.
