19th Century French Napoleon III Rosewood Planter with Marquetry & Bronze Decor
This beautifully crafted, antique fruitwood jardinière was crafted in Paris, France, circa 1870. Rectangular in shape with bow sides, the rosewood and ebony planter features wood marquetry and parquetry decor with very detailed inlay work of a central vase with birds standing, embellished by foliage on both sides. The planter has two handles at either end, a decorative bronze gallery around the curled rim and a bronze pearl trim around the base. All four corners have ornate decorative bronze mounts embellished by scrolled feet at the bottom. The luxurious cache pot is lined inside with its original zinc tray. Excellent condition with rich patinated finish.
