This beautiful, antique oil on canvas was painted in France circa 1840. The painting is signed on the bottom left “Guiloeminet” and depicts a “Basse Cour” (farmyard) with roosters, chicken, chicks and turkeys in front of a countryside barn. The composition has a soft, neutral palette with a lovely command of light. It is in excellent condition and is set inside an ornate, gilded frame. The artist, Claude Guilleminet (1821-1860) was a French genre stage painter who specialized in the paintings of the farm yard and farm animals. His career began at the Paris Salon of 1856, and he also participated in the salons of 1864 and 1866 as well. Listed in the Benezit. SKU: 172-116
