This fine antique set of majolica planters was crafted in France, circa 1880. Each ceramic cache pot depicts the reign of Bacchus thru scenes of young cherubs with vines and grapes. These colorful planters are in excellent condition with rich hand painted colors in a pale blue and red palette. Bacchus (also called Dionysus), in then ancient Greek religion and myth, was the god of the grape-harvest, wine-making and wine. He was also known as Bacchus, the name adopted by the Romans. Measures: Jardinière 13″ L x 6.25″ W x 5.75″ H. Each cachepot 6.75″ diameter x 6.25″ height.
