19th Century French Patinated Bronze Dog Sculpture Signed A. Laplanche
This antique bronze sculpture was created in France, circa 1890. The composition features a German shepherd lying on rocky ground. The dog figure is signed on the back by the artist, Albert Laplanche. The elegant piece is in excellent condition with wonderful details and rich patinated bronze finish. The artist conveys action and energy through the shape, movement and texture of the dog figure. This animal sculpture would make an interesting addition to a shelf in a library or a desk in a study. It’s the perfect, rustic gift for an animal or dog lover. Pierre Albert Laplanche (1854-1935) was a French sculptor and follower of Barye. His work is displayed in the museum of Chateau-Thierry.
