This elegant antique bronze sculpture was crafted in France, circa 1880. Titled “La Cruche Cassée” (The Broken Pitcher), the sculpture features a young boy holding a tack welded flagon looking down at the broken pitcher. The statue has a titled plaque on the base and is signed in the back C. Anfrie. The bronze figure is in excellent condition with a rich overall patinated finish. Decorate a man’s office or a library shelf with this fine antiquity. Charles Anfrie (1833-1905) was a French sculptor, known for his bronze figures of children and military soldiers. He exhibited at the 1883 Salon some portraits of P. Louchet and R. Magniaud (bust and medallion) , and some plaster art works in 1888 and 1890 Salons. Listed in the Benezit. Measures: 5.25″ diameter 16″ height.
