About
This elegant antique fruitwood coat rack was crafted in southern France, circa 1880. The symmetrical stand features an arched bonnet top with molded cornice, embellished with floral motifs. The paneled backboard is accented with male and female caryatids, shield and vine foliate around the frame, and dressed with seven brass dolphin-form hooks for coats and hats. The bottom is decorated with a row of brass rings to support umbrellas and canes over an insert drip tray at the bottom. The tall and narrow Renaissance revival hall tree is in excellent condition with a rich walnut patina; it could be placed near the front door, or even in a master closet to catch extra clothing. Measures: 37.5″ W x 10.5″ D x 87.5″ H.
