19th Century French Rosewood Bombe Jardinière with Marquetry and Bronze Mounts

This elegant oval Napoleon III planter was crafted in Paris, France, circa 1870. The antique, rosewood and ebony jardinière with serpentine front and bombe sides dressed with handles, features marquetry and parquetry motifs including a very detailed inlay medallion with love birds and foliage on both sides. The top of the planter has a decorative bronze pierced gallery and embellished with a pearl trim around the base. All four corners are dressed with ornate decorative mounts ending with scrolled feet at the bottom. The luxurious cachepot is in excellent condition with the original inside tole liner, and adorns a rich patinated finish. Measures: 15.5″ W x 10″ D x 7″ H.
