19th Century French Rust Silver and Gilt Painted Wrought Iron Book Binding Press
This beautiful paper binding press was forged in France, circa 1860. The Classic “Presse a Relier” made of solid iron is almost square in shape and features scrolled decor on the façade, the top is connected to the manual screw controlled by a wide top handle. This heavy tool is in wonderful working order and adorns a rich patinated rust, silver and gilt painted finish. Decorate a shelf with this wonderful accessory in a study or library! In the old days, this kind of device was used to press together the book’s sheets together before receiving a bookbinding. Measures: 14″ W x 12.5″ D x 14″ H.
