19th Century French Walnut and Tapestry Armchair Convertible to Prayer Kneeler
This rare, carved fruitwood “Prie-Dieu” (prayer chair in French), was crafted in France, circa 1880. The unique, antique chair is easily transformed and can open up to a tall prayer bench. The Louis Philippe kneeler stands on four curved legs with armrests on the sides, it is upholstered with the original needlepoint tapestry with religious motifs, and embellished with decorative brass nailheads. The convertible metamorphic chair to kneeling bench, is in excellent condition with a rich walnut patina; use it in a bedroom for daily devotions!
