This large, patinated bronze figure was created in Italy, circa 1870. Situated on a marble base, “L’Usignuolo” (the nightingale or night player) is an old jazz musician playing the trumpet with expression. The sculpture is signed in the back “D’Orsi”, and is in excellent condition with beautiful finish. This piece would make a beautiful addition to a study or living room. Achille dOrsi (1845-1929) was an Italian sculptor from Naples. Like his Neapolitan contemporary, Vincenzo Gemito, he worked in the Verismo style of Realism. Measures: 13″ W x 10″ D x 22″ H.
