19th Century Italian Terracotta Bacchus Children Composition Signed A. Calendi
This large antique clay cherub composition was crafted in Italy, circa 1890. Standing on an oval base, the carved sculpture depicts three sited playful Bacchus children all covered with grape and vine decor; the cherubs are nicely carved with detailed facial expressions and movement. The art work is signed on the base by French artist, “A. Calendi”. The important sculpture is in excellent condition with a rich light patinated finish and embellished with gilt on the base. Place this charming piece on a mantel, shelf or tabletop for added beauty and texture. Armando Calendi was a 19th century Italian sculptor. Measures: 25″ W x 14″ D x 21″ H.
