19th Century Louis Philippe Gilt Wood Mirror with Carved Shell and Vine Motifs
This elegant, antique wall mirror was crafted in Paris, France, circa 1870. The wall decor features a large cartouche shell at the pediment flanked with carved grape and vine motifs on both sides, and is decorated with acanthus leaves at the bottom. The gilt frame, dressed with the original mercury glass, is embellished with a discrete engraved foliate decor, and decorative beads around the glass. The Louis Philippe mirror is in excellent condition with the original gold leaf finish and wood backing; it would make a nice addition over a mantel, in a living room, or in a powder room.
