19th Century Sheep and Ram Painting in Carved Gilt Frame Signed Johanna Grell
Set in the original carved giltwood frame, the oil painting on board was created in Austria circa 1890, the artwork is signed on the lower right by the artist Johanna Grell, embellished with a brass plaque bearing her name. The painting depicts a barn scene with ram and sheep eating and resting, with a dog on a ladder chasing a bird. The painting is in excellent condition with wonderful details and rich colors including the light coming in thru the window onto the sheep. Wire in the back for easy installation. Johanna Grell (1850-1934) was a Austrian artist known for her animal paintings especially farmhouse scenes with sheep and rams. Measures: 18.5″ W x 17″ H.
