About
This elegant and exceptional antique bar cabinet was crafted in southern France circa 1820. Built of solid oak wood, the heavy cabinet stands on a bottom plinth over three large panels; the curved sides with thick moldings, are decorated with hand carved floral and leaf motifs. The facade middle medallion features a hand carved young and cheerful Bacchus, flanked with two carved cherubs in high relief on both sides. The front is fitted with a small center drawer dressed with an iron knob, and an open space underneath with central shelving and a bottom shelf to store bottles, glasses and other bar essentials. The large surface counter to mix drinks is dressed with a polished tole metal top from later addition, which follows the lines of the cabinet frame. The Renaissance style dry bar is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich light oak patina with fabulous carvings throughout. Build a den, game room or wine cellar around this unique cabinet to entertain friends and guests! Measures: 79″ W x 29 D x 41.5″ H.
