Early 20th Century Carved Bentwood Swivel “Perroquet” Coat Stand Thonet Style
Bring a retro, yet practical touch to any entry or dressing area with this elegant, carved coat stand. The useful hat rack was crafted in France, circa 1900 in the style of German-Austrian cabinet maker, Michael Thonet (1796-1871). The hall tree features a swivel top with two rows of eight hooks each, so it could be used as a dual hat and coat rack. It has a top decorative finial, and is further embellished with three belt hooks along the thick carved stem. The stand with four scroll legs has a wide, sturdy base for ultimate stability and a ring to hold umbrellas upright. The coat rack is in excellent condition and has a rich walnut patina throughout. Measures: 27″ W x 27″ D x 78″ H.
