Early 20th Century French Carved Walnut Chest of Drawers with Red Marble Top

This elegant antique “Commode Sauteuse” was crafted in Provence, France, circa 1920. The small fruitwood chest stands on cabriole legs embellished by foliate gilt bronze mounts sabots over the feet. The cabinet features two serpentine drawers embellished with bronze handles and escutcheons, over a scalloped apron. The top has the original variegated marble surface, which follows the shape of the drawers, and both sides with raised panels. The chest of drawers is in excellent condition with a rich light walnut patina; very versatile, the petite chest could be used as a bedside table, or a side table. Measures: 30.5″ W x 15.75″ D x 29.5″ H.
