Early 20th Century French Chicken Painting in Carved Frame Signed and Numbered
This antique oil on canvas painting was created in France, circa 1930. Set inside a carved gilt frame, the composition depicts a typical “Basse-Cour” (or farmyard) in the manner of Coppenolle, with chickens and rooster grazing. The painting is in excellent condition with soft colors in the beige and red palette. The piece is signed by the artist in the bottom left corner but unreadable, with the number 138. (Edmond Van Coppenolle (1846-1914) was born in Belgium but was very active in France as well. Well known for his still life and chicken paintings) Measures: 29″W x 23″H.
