About
This beautiful hand-painted dish was sculpted in Central France, circa 1910. The colorful piece has four separate contiguous compartments, with a tall vase in the center. The piece is signed on the bottom “Montagnon, Nevers”. The vase is in excellent condition with rich palette of colors in the blue, white and orange colors. The faiencerie of Nevers is a ceramic production company from the Nevers region (central France), which developed strongly at the end of the 16th century. During the 17th and 18th centuries, the faience of Nevers reached its peak. The signature on this particular piece tells us that the vase was made between 1899 and 1937, when Gabriel Montagnon was the master potter at the factory. Measures: Diameter 13.5″ Height 10.5″.
